Jump Start

This eight-week writing class offers a space for new and experienced writers to build community, strengthen creative resilience and jump start your writing.

Each week I provide a variety of approaches, from somatic practices and improv to poetry and documentary techniques, to help you generate new material. We explore image, character, sound and rhythm and other fundamentals applicable to any genre.

In addition to in-class writing, students have access to weekly parallel writing sessions and an individual writing consult with me.

No prior writing experience needed.

Writing Clinic

COMING IN JANUARY 2022: A space for writing and sharing work. This 12-week workshop will help you complete the next draft — whatever genre you’re working in. 

Each meeting will consist of creative exercises, discussion of writing challenges and feedback on works-in-progress. Participants will have a chance to share their work twice. Communication guidelines will be provided so that together we can create a safe space for participants to do brave work. 

Saturdays 12:30 - 2:30pm PST January 8, 2022. Additional sessions may be added depending on class size. $425. Returning students $390. Info on creative ways to pay here.

Theater for Rebels

This theater class is for young people who are ready to change the world.

We’ll explore revolutionary theater practices for personal and collective transformation. Drawing on Augusto Boal’s practices we’ll learn new ways to express ourselves, to collaborate and engage personal and political issues. Connecting and having fun together is a part of every class because it helps build trust so we can do our best and bravest work.

For ages 10-13 and all genders. No prior experience necessary.

Mondays 1:00 - 3:00pm PST, September 27 - November 15. On Zoom.
